Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)


In accordance with the University Grants Commission (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at Sri Venkateshwara University has been constituted to provide a safe, secure, and gender-sensitive environment for all members of the University community.

The ICC is entrusted with addressing complaints of sexual harassment and ensuring fair, impartial, and confidential redressal in line with statutory provisions.

Composition of the Internal Complaints Committee

  1. Presiding Officer (Chairperson):
    A senior woman faculty member not below the rank of Associate Professor/Professor
    Prof. (Dr.) Nirmala Choudhary
  2. Faculty Members:
    Faculty members committed to women’s issues or possessing experience in social work or legal knowledge
    • Dr. Anita Rani
    • Dr. Ritika Punia
  3. Non-Teaching Employees:
    Members committed to women’s welfare, social work, or legal expertise
    • Ms. Krishna Kumari Sharma
    • Ms. Srijana Sharma
  4. Student Representatives:
    One each from Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research Scholar categories. Included when complaints involve students, as per UGC Regulations
    • Ms. Tannu
    • Ms. Jyoti
    • Ms. Saroj Bala
  5. External Member:
    Representative from an NGO or organization committed to women’s welfare or knowledgeable about issues related to sexual harassment
    Ms. Yogita Sharma

Objectives of the ICC

  • To prevent and prohibit sexual harassment of women employees and students within the University.
  • To provide a neutral, fair, and confidential mechanism for the redressal of complaints.
  • To promote awareness on gender sensitization, respectful conduct, and equitable workplace behavior.
  • To organize workshops, training sessions, and awareness programmes for students, faculty, and staff.
  • To uphold the dignity, safety, and equality of all genders on campus.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Receive and address complaints of sexual harassment promptly and impartially.
  • Ensure that inquiries are conducted fairly, confidentially, and within the stipulated time frame.
  • Recommend appropriate disciplinary action based on inquiry outcomes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard the identity of complainants and witnesses.
  • Prepare annual reports detailing cases received, actions taken, and preventive measures implemented.

Confidentiality and Support

All complaints received by the ICC are handled with utmost confidentiality, sensitivity, and professionalism. The Committee provides emotional, academic, and legal support to the complainant and ensures a safe and non-discriminatory environment throughout the inquiry and beyond.
